1.What did Lencho hope for?
Ans: Lencho hoped for a heavy rains as
his field of ripe corn needed a shower of rain immediate effect for the better
growth of the crops.
2.Why
did Lencho say about the raindrops were like new coins?
Ans: Lencho thought that his field of
ripe corn needed a shower of rain for the better growth of the crops. He also
thought that after the rain his crops would be ready for harvest. Then he would
be able to earn much money by selling the fully grown crops. So, he compared
the raindrops with ‘new coins’.
3.How
did the rain change? What happened to Lencho’s fields?
Ans: As Lencho predicted it began to rain
on his ripe corn field. But suddenly a strong wind began to blow along with the
rain very large hailstones began to fall.Then for an hour the hail rained on
the whole valley. Immediately the field of ripe corn field looked white as if
it covered with salt. After the hailstones Lencho’s fields were totally
destroyed. Even not a single leaf remained on the trees. The flowers were gone
from the plants.
4.What
were Lencho’s feelings when the hail slopped?
Ans: When the hail stopped Lencho’s soul
was filled with sadness. Then he standing in the middle of the field and said
to his sons , ‘A Plague of Locust’ would had left more than what was left after
the storm. He thought that as they would have no corn that year and they would
go hungry. So, he was in full of sorrow.

Who or what did Lencho have faith in? What did he do?
Ans. Lencho had faith in God. He believed
that God’s eyes see everything , even what is happening in one’s conscience. So,
finally he wrote a letter to God expressing his need for one hundred pesos in
order to sow his field again and to live until the crops grew again.

Who read the letter?
Ans. The postmaster read the letter.

What did he ( the postmaster) do after reading reading the letter?
Ans. After reading the letter , the
postmaster came to know that Lencho had complete faith in God . So in order to
keep the writer’s faith in God, the postmaster decided to reply to the letters.
For the purpose ,the postmaster collected a little money from his employees and
he himself giving a part of his salary,
sent to Lencho.
8.Was
Lencho surprised to find a letter for him with money?
Ans. No, Lencho was not at all surprised
to finding a letter for him with money. Because he was in full confidence that
God would send him letter with money .
9.
What made him(Lencho) angry?
Ans. Lencho was in full confidence that
God would send him one hundred pesos in order to sow his field again and to
live until the crops grew again. But when he got a letter with money inside it
where signed it ‘God’, he saw that there were only seventy pesos in the
envelope . This is the fact which made him angry.
10.Who
does Lencho have complete faith in? Which sentences in the story tell you this?
Ans. Lencho has complete faith in God.
The sentences which tell us his faith in God in the story are as follow—
i)“But in the hearts
of all who lived in that solitary house in the middle of the valley , there was
a single hope: help of God.”
ii)“All through the
nights, Lencho thought only of his one hope; the help of God, whose eyed, as he
had been instructed, see everything , when what is deep in one’s conscience.
iii)“ God, if you
don’t help me , my family and I will go hungry this year.”
iv) “ He wrote to God on the envelope ,
put the letter inside it and, still troubled ,went to town.”

Why does the postmaster send money to Lencho? Why does he sign the letter
‘God’?
Ans. After reading the letter, the
postmaster come to know that Lencho had complete faith in God. So, the
postmaster didn’t want to break Lencho’s faith in God. In order to keep
Lencho’s faith in God, the postmaster signed the letter ‘God’ and send it to
Lencho putting money in envelope.
12.Did
Lencho try to find out who had sent the money to him? Why or why not?
Ans. No, Lencho didn’t try to find out
who had sent the money to him. Because he never thought that somebody might
send him the money except God. He had
complete faith in God that God himself would send him the money to fulfill his
desires .

Ans.The postmaster was a kind hearted ,
friendly and amiable man . He became serious suddenly on noticing the faith of
a man in God. He wanted to keep the man’s faith in God . So, he collected a
little money from his employees and he himself gave a part of his salary. Thus
he gathered seventy pesos and sent to Lencho.

does Lecnho call the post office employees as ‘a bunch of crooks’?
Ans. Lencho called the post office
employees as ‘a bunch of crooks’ ,because he thought that they have cheated him by taking thirty pesos.

you don’t help me , my family and I will go hungry this year . I need one
hundred pesos to sow my field again and to live until the crop grew again. The hailstones
